Garambi waterfalls & Dam are two unexplored places near Alibag. Even though the waterfall is much closer to Murud, many people who visit Alibag can also visit Garambi waterfalls. Some places are very exciting to visit when you wander around places most unexpecting to find something this magical.
Garambi waterfall is a seasonal waterfall. The best time to visit the Garambi waterfall is during the monsoon season (June – September) or just after the monsoon ends in October. It is nestled in the forests of Murud village in the heart of the state of Maharashtra. Most people who visit Murud or Alibag know less about this beautiful and peaceful place. It is one of the best places to visit near Alibag.
I had been to Murud for a weekend road trip to enjoy some beach time along with my friends. I had no clue about this place and wasn’t included on the itinerary either. Since it was a lockdown period here in Maharashtra, we had to take a detour from the main highway through the village of Roha to reach Murud. On the way from Roha, we took a road towards Murud via a Ghat. on this Ghat you will find many village settlements. It was pretty to see such beautiful settlements on the hilltop. The villagers cultivate the staple rice paddy fields and have designed the fields just like the famous Bali rice fields.
The Garambi falls are surrounded by forests. The cascading waterfall has a height of around 100 feet. The water is supposedly is crystal clear and clean to drink, but we choose not to try. The place is accessible through every season.
You can also visit the famous sea-fort Murud Janjira, Sawatkada waterfall, Khokari tombs, Khar Amboli Dam, Ahmedganj Palace, Padmadurg fort.
How to reach Garambi Waterfall & Dam?
By the end of Ghat, you will see an assigned board that says “ Way to Garambi waterfalls”. There is a shop just beside the signboard. It is the only shop in the region where you will get eatables and packaged drinking water. You can park your vehicle on the side of the roads carefully as there are no parking spots available here.
The Garambi waterfall & Dam are approximately 10km from Murud on the Tala-Murud Road. it will take you around 2 hours to reach the waterfalls from Alibag. If you are visiting the waterfall just like me, then it took us around 3 hours to reach Garambi Waterfalls from Navi Mumbai.
