There are many weekend getaways from Mumbai, although if you love Mountains and Landscapes; I recommend you to take a road trip to the Malshej Ghat. it is also known to be one of the top places to visit in Maharashtra.
It’s around 2–3 hours journey from Mumbai (considering the traffic!) with amazing roads. The mountain pass is around 150 km from Mumbai and 130 km from pune.
I got the chance to drive along the roads where the climate was perfect with midst of the clouds, dense fog and not much rainfall.
As a waterfall lover myself, you’ll see waterfalls around every corner during the monsoon season. Its bliss to watch numerous waterfalls at a time, at times you will also notice few reverse waterfalls along the way.
Best Time to Visit Malshej Ghat
The best time to visit Malshej ghat is in the monsoon season where the mountain peaks are covered with clouds, Wet roads, and greenery all along the way.
It is an incredible roadway with astonishing huge mountain sights. The Western Ghats have incredible deep valleys, narrow and curvy roads. There are many trails for trekking for adventure seekers.
There are various points to view the landscapes of the valley. You’ll find these places flooded with tourists during the monsoons, as the ghat is pretty famous around Mumbaikars. Many people from near and far make the trip at least once in the monsoon season. you can check out my Instagram for more pics on Malshej ghat.
To Conclude
– It’s a perfect weekend getaway and can be visited in a day. There are a few resorts and farmhouses if you plan to have a stay overnight. Travel and landscape photographers will surely love these massive mountains and curved roads. if you love waterfalls I recommend visiting Malshej ghats in the monsoon season.
