Asia is made up of 48 countries. It is difficult to decide from which country to start your journey to travel around Asia. India and China are the two most populated countries in Asia. It is going to take many years to visit every bit of the continent. Most of the travelers choose to start their journey from south-east Asia. This would be my choice as well.
Countries like Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia are the most popular countries for backpacking. These countries attract a large number of backpackers but also occupied with luxury places throughout.
Bigger cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Bangkok, and many others attract people from all over the world.
And Yes! I can’t forget to tell you all about the delicacies every city has to offer. There’s a lot of varieties of food culture in each country.
There is never a bad time to travel around Asia. I have mentioned the best time to visit every country in the blog. Every country in Asia has different weather as per the topography. When planning to travel around Asia, just check out for the monsoon season and you are good to go. You might be lucky to get cheaper airfare and hotel stays in the monsoon season, as many travelers prefer dry season.
We can categorize Asia into 4 sections.
1- Central Asia
Central Asia comprises Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. These countries are yet to be explored by travelers. But in recent years there is a growth in tourism in these nations.
2- East Asia
Most of the international travelers visit East Asia throughout the year. It comprises of countries like China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Mongolia, Taiwan, and Macau. It boasts some of the most impressive man-made and natural wonders such as the Great Wall of China, Mount Fuji, and many more.
3- South Asia
Most densely populated countries comprise South Asia. It includes India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Maldives.
4- Southeast Asia
Also known as the ‘Backpackers Paradise’. It includes countries like Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
